Bill Gottfried earned a B.S.B.A. in Petroleum Marketing from The University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a M.B.A. in International Business from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; and he has attended Agribusiness Seminars at Harvard Business School. Bill was Commissioned a U.S Naval Officer at Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island; he graduated from the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School, Athens, Georgia; and the U.S. Department of Defense Petroleum School, San Diego, California. He is an Eagle Scout and a Member of The Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C.
Bill began his career as a U.S. Naval Officer stationed in Awali, Bahrain assigned to the Inspector of Naval Material, Petroleum Products, Middle East Area (INSMATPET) where he was responsible for petroleum shipments in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait (300,000 b/d) for the Department of Defense.
Following Middle East service, Bill worked with Mobil Oil Corporation as a Senior Marketing Analyst. He subsequently joined the Federal Energy Office in Washington, D.C. where he managed refined product and crude oil allocation programs during three Presidential Administrations. Following assignments with the Federal Energy Office, Bill worked with management consultants Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc. in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Houston on strategic planning assignments for energy industry clients.
Bill formed Gottfried International, Inc. in 1986 in Houston and developed the firm's management consulting, project development, and executive search expertise in energy, agribusiness, health care, space technology, and real estate development. Gottfried International, Inc. supports clients in U.S. and international markets and has offices and partners in Washington, D.C., London, Paris, and Manama.
Bill was a member of the first U.S. Government Trade Missions sent to Moscow, Western Siberia (Tyumen), and Kazakhstan during the collapse of the Soviet Union to develop energy investment cooperation with the new independent republics of the former USSR. Bill was a founding member of the U.S.-Russia Business Council in Washington, D.C. and he formed the Energy Committee of the U.S.-Russia Business Council.
Bill served as Chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors International Committee, Chairman of the Houston Association of Realtors International Advisory Group, the National Association of Realtors Presidential Liaison to the United Arab Emirates, and he is a founding Board Member of the Houston Chapter of the Asian Real Estate Associaton of America (AREAA).
