Gottfried International, Inc., Houston and Washington, D.C., provides management consulting and executive search expertise to clients to support their investments in energy, agribusiness, biotechnology, space technnology, and real estate in the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Russia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. We recruit management teams for international oil and gas companies, renewable energy companies, agribusiness companies, space technology companies, and biotechnology and health care companies. Over the past 30 years, we have organized energy joint ventures in Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Mexico, the Middle East, and the U.S. We developed one of the first commercial payloads for the International Space Station, a remote sensing and imaging system for the energy industry. Bill and Danielle Gottfried established The Kidney Research Institute of Texas to support kidney research in honor of Bill's and Danielle's family members who have suffered from kidney disease. Gottfried International, Inc. is the Managing Partner for Gottfried International Estates, an independent real estate company supporting investments in U.S. and global markets.
During the collapse of the Soviet Union, Bill Gottfried, our firm's founder and CEO, was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to join the first U.S. Government Trade Missions that were sent to Russia and Central Asia to support U.S. investment cooperation with the new independent Republics. Bill worked with clients to organize oil and gas projects in Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Azerbaijan and he recruited management teams for these joint ventures. Bill is a founding member of the U.S.-Russia Business Council in Washington, D.C. and he formed the Council's Energy Committee to support U.S. energy investment cooperation with Russia. We formed the first U.S. agribusiness joint venture in Kazakhstan following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Bill began his career as a U.S. Naval Officer in the Middle East stationed in Awali, Bahrain; Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia; Shuaiba, Kuwait; Abadan, Iran, and Aden, Yemen where he managed petroleum shipments (250,000 b/d) for the Department of Defense. We have been members of the Abadan Society, petroleum industry professionals who worked in Abadan, Iran's oil center; and U.S. and international energy associations. Bill and his wife, Danielle Anne-Marie Gottfried, a partner with our firm, attend OPEC Ministerial Meetings in Vienna at the invitation of the OPEC Secretariat.
Following military service in the Middle East, Bill was a Petroleum Supply Analyst with Mobil Oil Corporation and subsequently served as Manager of the Crude Oil Allocation Program in the Federal Energy Office at The White House serving in three Presidential Administrations. After government service, Bill was a Senior Associate with Booz, Allen & Hamilton Inc.'s Energy Division in Washington, D.C. and Houston supporting international energy industry clients.
Bill earned a B.S. in Petroleum Marketing from The University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a M.B.A. in International Business from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; he has attended Executive Ed. at the Harvard Business School; he was commissioned a U.S. Naval Officer at Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island; and he graduated from Navy Supply Corps School, Athens, Georgia. Bill has been listed in the Financial Times of London's "Who's Who in World Oil & Gas", he is an Eagle Scout, and he is a Knight of the Silver Circle Member of The Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. and affiliate clubs in London, Paris, and Manama.
