We were founding members of BIO Houston when this organization was formed to support commercial biotechnology development in the Houston Metropolitan Region. We were a founding member of BIO Texas, formed to support biotechnology development across Texas, and we were founding members of the Association of Biotechnology Companies, the forerunner of BIO, the industry's Nationwide biotechnology association. We were one of the first BIO Members in Houston.
Gottfried International, Inc. has been a corporate sponsor of The Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering at Rice University in Houston and our firm helped form the Plant Science Center at Rice University that was organized to support advanced research in agricultural biotechnology. We remain committed to the development of a vibrant biotechnology industry in Houston, throughout Texas, across the U.S., and worldwide.
We are working with leading biotechnology companies that are involved in kidney disease research to help find a cure. We have been fundraisers for the National Kidney Foundation supporting the Foundation's work in kidney disease research, kidney health, and health care advocacy.
Bill and Danielle Gottfried established The Kidney Research Institute of Texas to support kidney disease research in The Texas Medical Center in Houston and in additional medical centers in the U.S. We are embarking on a major corporate sponsorship and endowment fundraising program to raise investments to fund kidney disease research, kidney disease prevention programs, and initiatives to accelerate patient care support, including the acceleration of dialysis technology innovation.
